IT Daybooks in Parent Engage Portal

The following instructions is a guide for new starting families on how to locate the necessary IT daybooks in the Parent Engage Portal (both Hills and West Portals) and how to fill and sign them. This only applies to families who have students starting in Years 7 to 12.

There are 3 important IT daybooks that require parental acknowledgement for each student:

06 ICT Acceptable Use Policy

Step 1

Once logged into the Parent Engage Portal, you will begin at the homepage. 

Navigate to the sidebar and select “Pupil Daybook” highlighted in red.

Step 2

Please ensure the 'Date Range' is set correctly by selecting the start date on the left calendar (preferably beginning of this year), and the end date on the right calendar (today's date or end of this year). You can use preset Date Ranges on the left side of the filter; e.g. 'This Year'.

Click the 'Apply' button to set the dates for the filter, then the 'Search' button.

After the dates have been set, select the child you would like to start filling the daybooks for from the list provided.

Note: If you have a child that is currently in Year 8, 10 or 12 who had received their devices from the previous year, their daybooks would have been created in the previous year. Make sure to change the starting date to the beginning of the previous year in order to view their daybooks.


Step 3

Find the IT daybook titled '06 ICT Acceptable Use Policy', then select the pencil icon at the right of the section to begin editing.

Step 4

Once you have read the ICT Acceptable Use Policy, navigate to the orange section labelled 'Student Section' and use your mouse or touchscreen to sign next to the Parent's Signature section, above the dotted line. Make sure to click 'Confirm' to save the signature. 

Your child will be able to sign the Student's Signature section when they are logged into their Engage Portal Student Account.

Step 5

At the bottom of the daybook, there is a 'Save and Close' option, and a 'Cancel' option. Click 'Save and Close' once you have finished editing the daybook, or click 'Cancel' if you want to exit the daybook without saving changes.

06a Chromebook Loan Agreement

Step 1

Once logged into the Parent Engage Portal, you will begin at the homepage.

Step 4

Navigate to the orange section of the daybook labelled 'Parent Details and Verification', and must fill it with:

At the bottom of the daybook, there is a 'Save and Close' option, and a 'Cancel' option. Click 'Save and Close' once you have finished editing the daybook, or click 'Cancel' if you want to exit the daybook without saving changes.

06a Laptop Surface Loan Agreement

Step 1

Step 3

Find the IT daybook titled '06a Laptop Surface Loan Agreement', then select the pencil icon at the right of the section to begin editing.

Step 4

Navigate to the orange section of the daybook labelled 'Parent Details and Verification', and must fill it with:

06b Student Laptop Loan Check and Return

Step 1

Step 3

Find the IT daybook titled '06b Student Laptop Loan Check and Return', then select the pencil icon at the right of the section to begin editing.

Step 4

Navigate to the orange section of the daybook labelled 'Parent Acknowledgement'.

If your child has taken their school device home, inspect the device for any defects to the physical condition, then note down anything in the 'Note From Parents' box. Upload any photographic evidence of these defects by clicking the 'Browse' button.

Apply your signature at the bottom of the section. Make sure to click 'Confirm' to save the signature.

Step 5

At the bottom of the daybook, there is a 'Save and Close' option, and a 'Cancel' option. Click 'Save and Close' once you have finished editing the daybook, or click 'Cancel' if you want to exit the daybook without saving changes.
